3. Create a Facebook Page

Before you can sell your products online, you will need to add your Facebook page to your Instagram. Keep the profile photo and username the same on both platforms to avoid any confusion among your followers.


4. Physical products to sell

Instagram only allows you to operate your business when you have physical products to sell on the platform. If you wish to sell services, you will not be able to use the shopping feature to promote your brand.


5. Build a Catalog of your products

When you create your Facebook business page, you must add all the products you want to sell on Instagram through your Facebook page.

Step 2: Click on Business Tools Menu and then click on Catalog Manager.


Step 3: Click on Create Catalog.


Step 4: Choose the category that best describes your business. Here since we are going to sell products online, let us select E-commerce. Click Next.


Step 5: On the next screen, you will be asked to configure your catalog settings.

You can:

  1. Upload product information from a form, data feed or Facebook pixel
  2. Automatically import products information from your E-commerce platform

From the drop-down menu, choose who owns the catalog and click the Create button.


Congratulations, you have successfully created your catalog page. Click on View Catalog.

Step 6: Scroll down to look for Instagram Shopping. You will view drop-down options.

Here you can:

  1. Add Products
  2. Connect Your Instagram Business Profile

For now, click on Add Products.


Step 7: You can add products to your catalog using either of the ways:

  1. Add Manually
  2. Use Data Feed (Recommended if you have more than 50 products)
  3. Connect Facebook Pixel (Recommended if you have more than 50 products that get updated hourly/daily)

Let us select Add Manually. Click Next.


Step 8: On the next page, you can manually add products.

Upload the photo of your product, add the name of the product and product description, Content ID(optional), website link, currency, and product price. After entering all the details, click on Add Product.

If you want to add more products, you can click on Add More Product. After adding all the products, click on Done.


On the next screen, you can view all the products you have added manually.


Product Tags

Click on the Shop feature on your Instagram mobile app. Select the product that you wish to buy. When you click on the product image, you can see the Product Tags in rectangle boxes. These tags mention the products along with their respective price. You can then direct them to an external website from where they can purchase.
